Our Anne Frank (2024) is a theatre play written and directed by Syahna Maryam. This version is a retelling of the popular autobiography “The Diary of Anne Frank”, as it rekindles different families living under a secret annex for three years during the Holocaust.
Piggy Bank (2024) is a film script written by Syahna Maryam to fulfill grades on her Film Studies course in academic year 2024/2025. It highlights the story of the 6 year old Ajeng who is kept in a rumah susun (an unfurnished block of flats designed by the government when they migrate lower class people who could not afford communal areas) for her entire life with a father who’s always on the hunt for goods in the morning. That is, until truth reveals her dad’s job as a professional pickpocket.
Kitter Box (2025) is a film script written in Bahasa Indonesia by Syahna Maryam and directed by Kevin Prayoga as an official submission to ASEAN-AJC Short Film Awards 2025. It tells a story of 7 year olds Jojo and Nanda as their childhood is shaped through cultural narratives before having a knock of their own senses, within the elements of Setan Maghrib (a devil that comes during sunset in Indonesian traditional customs) and their play dates with traditional toys such as lempar sandal and layangan.
Mata Air (2025) is a film written and directed by Syahna Maryam in Bahasa Indonesia. It tells a story about Karang Mumus residents being torn between dreams (of pursuing higher education) and survival instincts. The film criticizes the government of delaying repair of Samarinda’s drainage system, yet focuses on turning the riverside into an exploitative tourist attraction instead. Mata Air is written through the lens of Banjar culture.T
